Mastering the Cosmic Elixir – Breathwork

A Full-Day Transformational Breathwork Workshop | Parksville, BC | October 17, 2026

What if a single practice — free, always available, and requiring no equipment — could heal your gut, deepen your sleep, sharpen your mind, slow your aging, and open a doorway to expanded consciousness? What if that practice has been known to humanity for thousands of years, encoded in the wisdom of ancient India, China, Egypt, and civilizations that predate recorded history?

That practice is breathwork. And in this extraordinary full-day workshop on Vancouver Island, you will not simply learn about it — you will live it.

Mastering the Cosmic Elixir – Breathwork is a one-of-a-kind immersive experience that weaves together the science of the breath, the sacred wisdom of ancient healing traditions, and the cutting-edge frontier of consciousness research. Led by Lucy Liu — Registered Dietitian, Clinical Nutritionist, TCM Practitioner, Vedic Astrologer, and gifted Energy Healer — this workshop offers something you will not find anywhere else on Vancouver Island: a truly integrated, multidimensional approach to breathwork that addresses your health, energy, spirit, and destiny.

Breathwork is the seed of longevity and the foundation upon which elevated consciousness is built. Our ancestors knew this. The ancient seers of India called it pranayama — the mastery of prana, the universal life force carried on the breath. The Daoist sages of China called it qigong — the cultivation of qi through breath, movement, and intention. The mystery schools of Egypt and Atlantis understood the breath as the living key to the Mer-Ka-Ba. This crystalline light body vehicle enables the soul to traverse dimensions and connect with the infinite intelligence of the cosmos.

In this workshop, you will step into that lineage. You will receive teachings that span millennia, filtered through the lens of modern science and Lucy Liu’s nearly 20 years of clinical and spiritual practice. Whether you are brand new to breathwork or a seasoned practitioner, this day will transform how you breathe, how you heal, and how you experience yourself and the world.

Ancient Breathwork for Longevity & Life Force

Of all the levers available to us for extending a healthy, vibrant life, none is more immediate, more powerful, or more consistently overlooked than the breath. We breathe over 20,000 times each day — and yet for most people, the vast majority of those breaths are shallow, rapid, and unconscious, quietly depleting vitality rather than building it.

Ancient civilizations understood something that modern science is only now rediscovering: the quality and pattern of breathing is one of the primary determinants of how long and how well we live. In this section of the workshop, we will journey back through the breathwork traditions of Ayurveda, Taoism, and Tibetan Monk practices, extracting the timeless principles that the greatest longevity masters embedded in their practices.

Ancient breathwork techniques for longevity and life force – Vancouver Island workshop

The Vedic Science of Pranayama and Lifespan

In classical Ayurveda and the Vedic texts — including the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Shiva Samhita — a consistent and profound teaching appears lifespan is measured not in years, but in breaths. Each person is said to arrive in this life with a fixed allotment of breaths. The yogi who learns to breathe slowly, fully, and consciously extends the interval between each breath — and in doing so, extends life itself.

This ancient teaching finds striking corroboration in modern biology. Studies in comparative physiology consistently show an inverse relationship between respiratory rate and lifespan. Tortoises, which breathe approximately four times per minute, routinely live 150 to 200 years. Mice breathe 60 to 200 times per minute and live only one to three years. Elephants, whales, and other long-lived animals breathe slowly and deeply. In humans, research links lower resting respiratory rates to higher heart rate variability (HRV), reduced cortisol, lower inflammatory markers, and significantly longer healthspan.

In this workshop, you will learn the foundational pranayama practices that Vedic masters used to conserve and cultivate prana — the bio-energetic life force that flows through and between every cell of the body. You will understand how specific breath ratios, retention practices (kumbhaka), and nasal breathing techniques activate the parasympathetic nervous system, optimize cellular oxygenation, and create the internal environment in which longevity flourishes.

The Three Treasures: Jing, Qi, and Shen

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, longevity is understood through the framework of the Three Treasures — the three fundamental substances that together constitute a human life: Jing (primordial essence), Qi (vital force), and Shen (spirit). These three treasures form a hierarchy of energy: Jing is the deep constitutional reserve, inherited from our ancestors and stored in the Kidneys; Qi is the dynamic life force constantly generated and expended through living; Shen is the luminous quality of consciousness expressed through clarity of mind, warmth of heart, and coherent presence.

You will leave this section of the workshop with a daily longevity breathing practice drawn from both Ayurvedic and TCM traditions — a practice you can begin immediately and build over years into a profound technology of vitality.

Nitric Oxide: The Breath's Secret Longevity Molecule

One of the most exciting discoveries in modern respiratory science is the role of nitric oxide (NO) — a gas produced primarily in the nasal sinuses during nasal breathing. Nitric oxide is a potent vasodilator, opening blood vessels and improving oxygen delivery to tissues. It is strongly antiviral and antibacterial, providing frontline immune defence. It relaxes smooth muscle throughout the airways, improving lung function. And it is now understood to play a critical role in cardiovascular health, with low nitric oxide levels associated with hypertension, atherosclerosis, and accelerated aging.

Humming — as in the ancient yogic practice of Bhramari pranayama — increases nasal nitric oxide production by up to 15-fold compared to normal breathing. Nasal breathing during sleep maintains nitric oxide levels through the night, protecting cardiovascular health and immune defence while we rest. You will learn how to harness this extraordinary molecule through specific breathing practices that you can integrate into every part of your day.

Activate Kundalini and Expand Inner Awareness

At the base of the spine, coiled like a serpent in the root energy centre, lies one of the most powerful forces in the human subtle body: Kundalini Shakti. In the Vedic and Tantric traditions, Kundalini is understood as the dormant cosmic intelligence within each person — the primordial creative force of the universe condensed into individual form, awaiting the moment of its awakening.

When Kundalini awakens and rises through the central energy channel, ascending through each of the seven chakras to the crown, the result is a profound expansion of consciousness — a direct, experiential recognition of one’s infinite nature. Intuition sharpens dramatically. The boundary between the personal self and universal awareness begins to dissolve. Dreams become vivid and lucid. Psychic perception opens. Creativity surges. And the ordinary becomes infused with a quality of aliveness and meaning that transforms everyday life.

In this section of the workshop, you will receive specific breathwork practices — drawn from the classical Tantric tradition and refined through Lucy Liu’s years of energy healing work — designed to awaken and channel Kundalini energy safely and gently.

Kundalini activation through breathwork and sacred geometry – Lucy Liu workshop

Breathwork, Sacred Geometry, and Mudras

The most powerful Kundalini breathwork practices do not work with breath alone. They integrate the breath with mudras (sacred hand gestures that redirect the flow of prana through the energy body), bandhas (energetic locks that build and contain pranic pressure), and sacred geometry — the mathematical patterns through which consciousness organizes itself into form.

Sacred geometry is not merely an abstract concept. It is a living language that the subtle body recognizes at a deep level. When breathwork is combined with visualization of specific geometric forms — the Flower of Life, the Merkaba, the Sri Yantra — the practice gains a multi-dimensional quality that accelerates the awakening process and deepens the practitioner’s connection to the field of universal intelligence.

You will learn how to work with the breath, the body, and sacred geometry as an integrated system — creating a practice that is not only healing but genuinely transformative at the level of consciousness.

Sharpen Intuition, Lucid Dreaming, and Astral Travel

The third eye chakra is located at the midpoint of the forehead — the seat of intuition, inner vision, and direct knowing. Advanced pranayama practices, particularly those that work with alternate nostril breathing and concentrated breath retention, activate the 3rd eye, gradually opening the practitioner’s capacity for non-ordinary perception.

The hypnagogic state — the threshold between waking and sleep — is one of the most fertile territories for expanded perception, lucid dreaming, and out-of-body experience. Breathwork practices that gently deepen this threshold state create the conditions for vivid, conscious dreaming and, for some practitioners, genuine astral projection: the experience of the consciousness extending beyond the physical body into subtler dimensions of reality.

Lucy Liu will guide you through specific practices for working with these expanded states safely and intentionally — including how to set clear intentions, how to navigate non-ordinary experiences with grounding techniques, and how to integrate the wisdom received in these states into practical daily life.

Ancient TCM Techniques for Mind and Body Coherence

Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the oldest and most sophisticated healing systems in human history — a living science that has been refined continuously for over 4,000 years. At its heart is the understanding that health is not the absence of disease, but the dynamic coherence of Qi — the vital force that flows through a network of invisible channels (meridians) connecting every organ, tissue, emotion, and function of the human being.

Breath, in TCM, is not merely respiratory. It is the primary vehicle of the heavenly vital force drawn from the natural world with every inhalation — and the most immediate tool for influencing the flow of Qi through the meridian system. When the breath is shallow and disordered, Qi stagnates, organs become depleted or overcharged, and illness follows. When the breath is deep, rhythmic, and consciously directed, Qi flows freely, the organs are nourished, and the mind-body system returns to its natural state of coherence.

In the workshop, you will learn and practice the Six Healing Sounds as an integrated breathwork sequence — a practice you can use daily to maintain organ health, release emotional residue, and cultivate the quality of Qi in each of the primary organ systems. You will also learn how to use specific breathing rhythms to support the meridian clock — the 24-hour cycle during which different organ meridians come to peak activity — allowing you to time your breathwork practice for maximum therapeutic effect.

Ancient TCM Techniques for Mind and Body Coherence

Breathwork for Gut Health, Mental Health, and Insomnia

Three of the most common health challenges among the general population are digestive dysfunction, anxiety and depression, and poor sleep. TCM breathwork addresses all three through a single, unified mechanism: the restoration of harmonious Qi flow.

For gut health: slow, deep diaphragmatic breathing activates the vagus nerve — the primary highway of the parasympathetic nervous system — which directly governs digestive motility, stomach acid production, and the secretion of digestive enzymes. The Stomach and Spleen meridians, which govern digestion in TCM, are nourished by grounded, earth-element breathing that descends into the lower abdomen.

For mental health: the Liver meridian, which governs the free flow of Qi and emotion throughout the body, is one of the most commonly disrupted organ systems in modern life. Liver Qi stagnation — the TCM pattern underlying much of what Western medicine calls anxiety, depression, and emotional volatility — responds beautifully to specific releasing breathwork that opens the chest, softens the diaphragm, and encourages the long, complete exhalation that the Liver needs to discharge accumulated tension. Combined with the Lung meridian’s association with grief and letting go, these practices offer a genuine somatic pathway to emotional healing.

For insomnia: the Heart-Kidney axis — the energetic relationship between the fire of the Heart (consciousness, emotion, awareness) and the water of the Kidneys (deep constitutional energy, will, and rest) — must be balanced for natural, restorative sleep. When the Heart is overstimulated, and the Kidneys are depleted, the mind races at night while the body is exhausted.

Slowing Cellular Aging Through Breath

One of the most fascinating intersections of TCM wisdom and modern science is the understanding that slow, coherent breathing — the kind cultivated through daily qigong and pranayama practice — measurably reduces oxidative stress, lowers systemic inflammation, and supports telomere preservation. Telomeres, the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes, are one of the primary biological markers of cellular aging: longer telomeres are associated with longer, healthier life. Chronic stress, shallow breathing, and sympathetic nervous system overdrive accelerate telomere shortening. Coherent breathwork, by reducing cortisol and activating the parasympathetic state, creates the internal environment in which cellular repair and preservation can occur.

Personalized Breathwork with Sidereal Astrology and Feng Shui

Every person is a unique constellation of energies, rhythms, and tendencies — shaped by the specific moment in space-time into which they were born, the elemental constitution of their physical and energetic body, and the living environment in which they dwell. A breathwork practice that is perfectly calibrated to this unique constellation is infinitely more powerful than a generic approach applied equally to all.

This is the extraordinary insight at the heart of this section of the workshop — and it is something that, to Lucy Liu’s knowledge, is not taught anywhere else in this form. By combining the precision of Sidereal Astrology (the original, star-aligned system used by the ancient Vedic, Egyptian, and Babylonian traditions) with the spatial intelligence of Feng Shui and Vastu Shastra, we can identify the specific breathwork practices, timing, directions, and elemental emphases that are most resonant and most healing for each individual.

Personalized breathwork with Sidereal Astrology and Fengshui – Lucy Liu

Sidereal Astrology: Reading the Breath in the Stars

Sidereal Astrology — distinguished from the more familiar Tropical system by its alignment with the actual positions of the fixed stars rather than the seasonal equinox — offers a profoundly accurate map of an individual’s energetic constitution, karmic tendencies, and life purpose. Where Tropical Astrology tracks the relationship between the Earth and the Sun, Sidereal Astrology tracks the relationship between the individual soul and the vast field of cosmic intelligence encoded in the stars.

Understanding your astrological signature allows us to identify which breathwork practices will bring you into greatest balance — which techniques will soothe and nourish, which will activate and elevate, and which should be approached with care given your constitutional tendencies. In this section of the workshop, Lucy will share the principles of this astrological breathwork system, giving you the foundational understanding to begin personalizing your practice immediately.

Fengshui, Vastu, and the Direction of Breath

Fengshui (Chinese) and Vastu Shastra (Vedic Indian) are the ancient sciences of harmonious living — the arts of aligning human dwelling and activity with the energetic flows of the natural world. Both systems understand space as alive: different directions, orientations, and positions within a living or working environment carry different energetic qualities, and these qualities directly influence the wellbeing and vitality of those who inhabit them.

Applied to breathwork, these principles reveal that the direction we face while practicing affects the quality and depth of the experience. You will leave this section with practical guidelines for setting up your personal breathwork space and scheduling your practice in alignment with your astrological constitution, the principles of Feng Shui and Vastu, and the seasonal rhythms of the natural world — transforming breathwork from a technique into a living, deeply personalized spiritual practice.

Targeted Breathwork for Health and Healing

Perhaps the most immediately practical section of the workshop, this module gives you a precision toolkit of breathwork techniques specifically matched to the most common and most challenging health concerns that Lucy Liu encounters in her clinical practice. These are not generic wellness techniques — they are targeted, evidence-informed interventions drawn from the intersection of modern respiratory physiology, TCM, Ayurveda, and the latest research in psychoneuroimmunology.

Each technique below will be taught experientially — you will not simply hear about them; you will practice them and feel their effects directly in your body.

Targeted breathwork for weight loss, anxiety, sleep, and heart health

Weight Loss and Metabolic Health

The relationship between breathing and metabolism is far more direct than most people realize. Shallow, rapid breathing — the default state for most stressed modern people — keeps the body in low-grade sympathetic activation, elevating cortisol, promoting fat storage (particularly around the abdomen), and suppressing the cellular repair processes that depend on parasympathetic dominance. By contrast, slow, coherent breathing activates the vagus nerve, lowers cortisol, improves insulin sensitivity, and creates the internal environment in which healthy metabolism can function.

Heart Health and Cardiovascular Function

The heart and the breath are in continuous, intimate conversation. Every inhale accelerates the heart slightly; every exhale slows it. This natural fluctuation — called respiratory sinus arrhythmia — is one of the primary expressions of heart rate variability (HRV), which is now recognized as one of the most reliable markers of cardiovascular health, autonomic nervous system balance, and overall resilience. The higher your HRV, the more adaptable and resilient your heart.

Detoxification and Lymphatic Support

The lymphatic system — the body’s primary waste-clearance network — has no pump. Unlike the cardiovascular system, which is driven by the heart, the lymphatic system depends entirely on movement and breathing for its circulation. Deep, diaphragmatic breathing creates rhythmic pressure changes in the thoracic cavity that act as a powerful pump for lymphatic flow, moving lymph through the body’s vessels and accelerating the clearance of cellular waste, metabolic by-products, and immune debris.

Kidney Strengthening and Adrenal Recovery

In both TCM and Ayurveda, the Kidneys occupy a position of singular importance in the architecture of health and longevity. They are the root of all constitutional vitality — the storehouse of Jing, the foundation of bone and brain health, and the primary reservoir of the will, the courage, and the deep life force that sustains us through difficulty. In TCM, the Kidneys are associated with the element of Water, the emotion of fear, and the season of Winter — and in our chronically overstimulated modern lives, Kidney depletion (what Chinese medicine calls Kidney Qi or Kidney Yang deficiency) is epidemic.

Adrenal fatigue — the Western correlate of Kidney deficiency — is similarly widespread, characterized by chronic exhaustion, difficulty waking in the morning, salt cravings, immune vulnerability, and a pervasive sense of being depleted at a deep level. Targeted breathwork for Kidney and adrenal support focuses on slow, warming, internally directed practices that gather and consolidate Qi rather than expend it — including specific lower-dan-tian breathing, kidney-focused visualizations, and gentle Wuji qigong breathing sequences.

Anxiety, Panic Attacks, and Trauma Release

For anxiety and panic attacks, breathwork is arguably the most powerful in-the-moment intervention available. When the nervous system enters a threat response — heart racing, chest tightening, thoughts spiralling, body bracing for danger — the breath is the fastest lever for reversal. In this section of the workshop, you will experience a gentle somatic breathwork sequence designed to open the breath, soften the body, and create safety in the nervous system — beginning the process of releasing what the body has been holding.

Gut Health and the Vagus Nerve

The gut-breath connection is one of the most clinically significant and most underutilized areas in modern healthcare. The vagus nerve — the longest cranial nerve in the body, running from the brainstem through the heart, lungs, and into every organ of the digestive tract — is the master conductor of the parasympathetic state that enables healthy digestion. Slow, extended-exhale breathing is the most direct known method of increasing vagal tone, measured through HRV, which directly correlates with better gut motility, reduced intestinal inflammation, and improved gut microbiome diversity.

Sleep Quality and Insomnia

Sleep deprivation is one of the most pervasive health crises of our time. The consequences ripple through every dimension of health — immune function, weight regulation, cognitive performance, emotional resilience, cardiovascular health, and even longevity. Yet breathwork for sleep is one of the most reliable, drug-free interventions available, and it is rarely prescribed or taught.

You will learn a complete pre-sleep breathwork protocol that systematically downregulates the nervous system, lowers cortisol, and creates the neurological conditions for natural, deep sleep onset. You will also learn why nasal breathing during sleep is one of the single most important changes you can make for sleep architecture, and receive practical guidance for making the transition.

The Mer-Ka-Ba, Ascension, and Elevated Consciousness

We arrive now at the most extraordinary and most ancient dimension of breathwork — the territory where breath becomes the vehicle of spiritual awakening, where the personal dissolves into the universal, and where the human being rediscovers its true nature as a multidimensional being of light.

The Mer-Ka-Ba (from the ancient Egyptian: Mer = light, Ka = spirit, Ba = body) is the crystalline light-body vehicle — a counter-rotating field of light geometry, shaped like two interlocking tetrahedra (the Star of David in three dimensions), that extends approximately 55 feet in diameter from the human energy field when fully activated. In the mystery school traditions of ancient Egypt, and in the lost civilization of Atlantis — which many spiritual traditions hold to be a centre of advanced sacred science that predates Egypt — the Mer-Ka-Ba was understood as the vehicle through which consciousness travels between dimensions, between planets, and between states of existence.

Its activation requires the integration of breath, intention, sacred geometry visualization, and the raising of the fundamental life force energy — Kundalini — through the central column of the subtle body. This is not a metaphor. This is a technology — ancient, tested, and accessible to every human being who is ready to engage with it sincerely.

The Mer-Ka-Ba, Ascension, and Elevated Consciousness

Breathwork, Endogenous DMT, and Non-Ordinary States

Modern neuroscience has begun to map the neural correlates of the elevated states accessed through advanced breathwork — and the findings are extraordinary. DMT (N, N-Dimethyltryptamine) is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound produced endogenously in the human body, primarily in the pineal gland, the lungs, and specific regions of the brain. It is the same compound found in ayahuasca and other plant medicines used by indigenous healing traditions for millennia to facilitate profound spiritual experience.

The connection between advanced breathwork and endogenous DMT is elegant and profound. During activation-style breathwork — including Holotropic breathing, advanced pranayama, and the Wim Hof method — blood CO₂ levels drop significantly, producing a state of respiratory alkalosis that dramatically alters cerebral blood flow and brain chemistry. Simultaneously, rhythmic pressure changes produced by deep breathing and breath retention appear to stimulate the pineal gland directly. A landmark 2019 study confirmed that the lungs are a significant site of DMT biosynthesis in mammals, actively producing DMT that enters the bloodstream during altered respiratory states.

Raising Vibration and Preparing for Ascension

The ancient traditions that encoded the knowledge of breathwork understood that the physical dimension is not the only reality — that human beings are multidimensional by nature, capable of perceiving and inhabiting subtler fields of existence when their vibrational frequency is sufficiently elevated. The breath is the primary tool for this elevation.

When we breathe consciously, with intention, with gratitude, and with awareness of the sacred intelligence that animates every cell, we are not merely oxygenating our tissues. We are participating in the cosmic breath — the rhythmic pulsation of creation and dissolution, expansion and contraction, that underlies all of existence. Every conscious breath is an act of communion with the living universe. Every deep exhalation is a release of limitation. Every full inhalation is an affirmation of life, of presence, of belonging to something immeasurably vast and beautiful.

In this section of the workshop, guided by Lucy Liu’s deep knowledge of Vedic wisdom, energy healing, and sacred geometry, you will be led through an advanced breathwork ceremony — a guided journey into the Mer-Ka-Ba field, designed to awaken the light body, elevate your vibrational frequency, and open your direct experience of the unified field that mystics and quantum physicists alike are coming to recognize as the ground of all being.

A Final Invitation

The breath has always been there — faithful, patient, endlessly available, waiting for you to turn toward it with the attention and respect it deserves. In every tradition that has grappled with the deepest questions of human existence — how to live fully, how to heal, how to know ourselves, how to touch the sacred — the breath has been the answer. Not one answer among many: the answer. The first and the last.

On October 17th, in the beautiful, wild landscape of Vancouver Island, you have the opportunity to step into that ancient lineage. To receive teachings that have been carried across millennia for exactly this moment. To breathe — really breathe — perhaps for the first time. And to discover, in that breathing, who you truly are.

We hope to see you there.
